Farokh Engineer visit to Cricket Tournament at La Manga

Jonathan Woodward, Vice President Madrid CC, Tournament Organiser, says he is pleased to announce to you all that we will have the one and only Farokh Engineer visiting us during the tournament. He will be present during the entire tournament and will run 3 one hour (approx) coaching sessions over the three days amongst other things!

Farokh’s cricket career began in 1961 through to 1975, during which time he was India’s first choice wicket keeper playing in 46 tests as well as playing for Mumbai and Lancashire. He was also a very stylish and aggressive batsman and currently umpires in the IPL. His presence at our tournament is very exciting and a very welcome last minute addition.

The sessions cost 20€ per person with all of the proceeds going towards Farokh’s charity for homeless children in Mumbai and the tournament fund raising effort.

Please let all of your players know about the sessions and book your place as soon as possible. The sessions will start at 11am on Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th and Monday 27th of April and will continue until around 12/12.30.

Farokh Engineer began his Test career in 1961 and played 46 matches in all, scoring 2,611 runs and taking 66 catches behind the wicket, with 16 stumpings.  

A stalwart for Lancashire for many seasons, Engineer's distinguished international career came to an end when he retired following the 1975 World Cup.
